Orca Whales in Commencement Bay
Keep your eyes open! CHB received a report of 4-5 Orcas off
the mouth of Hylebos Waterway 1320, Monday, February 13, 2006 from nearby
residents. 2 males confidently
counted in the company of 2-3 females. Reportedly the Orcas were actively
breaching and splashing. At 1335 we received another call that the whales
were spotted off the mouth of the Puyallup
River and close to the
mouth of the Foss Waterway. CHB staff visually confirmed the
sighting. Last staff sighting was
1420 on February 13, 2006.
