Citizens for a Healthy Bay recently moved to new offices as part of a ”capacity building“ effort called for in a draft 5-year strategic plan approved by the Board of Directors in March 2003. While reaffirming the CHB mission to engage citizens to clean up, restore and protect Commencement Bay, surrounding waters and habitat, the Board recognizes that major activity in the Superfund cleanup is drawing to a close and a change in focus is needed. ’Clean up,‘ which has always been the driving force of the organization, will receive less attention in the future while ’protection‘ and ’restoration‘ become more essential to preserve and improve upon the important gains that have been achieved through the Superfund process.
