Volunteer
Citizens for a Healthy Bay started as a small group of volunteers. Today, we continue to rely on volunteers to help advance our mission of cleaning up, protecting and restoring Commencement Bay. CHB offers opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in real, make-a-difference activities. Our habitat restoration events, which take place throughout the year, offer volunteers the opportunity to plant and nurture native trees and plants, remove invasive weeds and remove trash at a variety of scenic and natural sites around the Bay.
Our Storm Drain Marking Program is conducted during the drier months of the summer and is an excellent way for groups and families to become active in their community. For those who wish to make an even greater investment in protecting Commencement Bay, we offer the Adopt-A-Wildlife Area (AAWA) Habitat Stewardship Program. Through this program, CHB trains citizens as Habitat Site Stewards and these volunteers then perform important monitoring activities at specific restoration sites by observing and reporting on the site’s health and stability. There is enough variety in CHB’s work that, no matter your age or how much time you’d like to commit, we can accommodate you and your interests.
