Thursday, January 21st: First Public Hearing on Proposed Natural Gas to Methanol Plant within Port of Tacoma (6:30pm at Tacoma Convention Center). Learn more about the proposed plant and submit public comments non-electronically at the first of two public hearings held by the city during this comment period. Comments received at this time will be considered by the City of Tacoma when determining the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement.


Saturday, January 23rd: Public Comment Workshop from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the UW Tacoma Cherry Parkes Building, room CP 105 (1922 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma 98402). Learn how to make your voice heard and help us demand adequate cleanup of the Occidental Chemical Superfund site and accurate environmental review of the proposed methanol plant! We will go over the basics of submitting comments, review various strategies and provide talking points. This training session will teach you skills that are easily transferable to other public comment processes. Saturday, January 30th: Public Hearing for the Occidental Chemical Superfund Cleanup at 9:30 am at the Center at Norpoint (4818 Nassau Ave NE, Tacoma 98422). Make your voice heard and influence the decision-making process on the last major Superfund cleanup in Commencement Bay! Attend an open house and public hearing hosted by the Washington State Dept. of Ecology. The open house will being at 9:30 am and Ecology staff will be available to answer questions about the site and cleanup process. The public hearing will begin at 10:30 am and Ecology will accept formal oral or written public comments on the draft Remedial Investigation.

Learn more about the proposed plant and submit public comments non-electronically at the second of two public hearings held during this comment period. Comments on the draft scope of the Environmental Impact Statement also accepted at this time.


Tuesday, February 16th: Third Public Hearing on Proposed Natural Gas to Methanol Plant within Port of Tacoma (5pm at Meeker Middle School). Learn more about the proposed plant and submit public comments non-electronically at the second of two public hearings held during this comment period. Comments on the draft scope of the Environmental Impact Statement also accepted at this time.


February: Mason Gulch public meeting at 6:00 pm at the Rasmussen Rotunda at the University of Puget Sound. The City of Tacoma is hosting a public meeting on the plan for restoration of the Mason Gulch in North Tacoma.
