Our featured speaker is Julie Masura\, Teaching Professor and Research Scientist at University of Washington Tacoma. Julie is a lecturer of Geoscience in Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences. Her field work has expanded to determining the concentrations of microplastics in the waters and she involves several students in her research work as well as partners with many environmental education groups throughout the region. \nHer talk will highlight her research on microplastics in the waters of the Pacific Northwest and will provide guidance on actions to limit release of plastics into our waters.
