Our work
For over 30 years, Communities for a Healthy Bay has brought people together to achieve a clean and healthy Commencement Bay that benefits our community and the surrounding ecosystem that calls Puget Sound home. Our work is driven by a passion for the natural environment and our community; by a steadfast commitment to good science, strategic action and organizational excellence; and by a conviction that together we can accomplish more.
As part of our work, we mobilize others to advocate for the protection of our waterways. We patrol the waters to keep an eye out for pollutants, advocate for the reduction of fossil fuel development in the Tacoma Tideflats, and we organize environmental justice camps for girls and LGBTQ+ youth ages 11-17.
We protect Commencement Bay through four program areas.
