IRA Donations: If you are 70 ½, you can turn your Required Minimum Distribution into a tax-wise charitable gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account. Contact us for a sample withdrawal request form.

Transfers of Stock: To make a stock transfer, please download and follow these instructions Making-A-Gift-of-Stock-Instructions-20251001.pdf. Please notify CHB after you make your transfer, and we will let you know once it has arrived in our account.

Donor Advised Funds: You can direct a gift from your DAF by searching for Communities for a Healthy Bay by name or by our tax identification number, 91-1515969. CHB currently has a fund housed at Greater Tacoma Community Foundation. The “Waves of Change” Fund is a component fund of Greater Tacoma Community Foundation and can be found via Waves of Change Fund.

Donating through your employer’s workplace giving program is an easy and impactful way to restore, clean up, and protect our waterways. Many companies will even match your donation, doubling the impact of your gift! CHB participates in Washington State employee campaigns and is also included in the workplace giving programs of many corporations, such as Starbucks and Microsoft, via Benevity. Look for CHB in the list of participating nonprofits in your employer’s workplace giving materials or ask your Human Resources department how to write us in. - Bequests: Include CHB in your will or trust with a designated amount, percentage, or specific asset. If you are in the estate planning process, here is brief sample bequest language that may assist you and your attorney:
“I give to Communities for a Healthy Bay, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 535 Dock Street Suite 213, Tacoma, WA 98402, federal tax identification number 91-1515969, [list percentage of the estate, specific dollar amount, or description of property here] for its unrestricted use and purpose.”
- Retirement Assets: Name CHB as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, IRA, or pension.
- Life Insurance: Make CHB a beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
- Charitable Trusts: Establish a charitable remainder trust or charitable lead trust to provide financial benefits to both CHB and your loved ones.
