Low Tide on Vashon Island

Saturday, May 6th, 2023
9:30am – 3:30pm
Point Defiance Entrance

Are you ready for an adventure! Join us for this special EJC where we will ride the ferry to Vashon Island to explore Point Robinson! May 6th has a great low tide so we will explore the beach for sea creatures and try to find some clams! If we find clams we will cook them right next to the beach! We will also explore the lighthouse.

We will meet at the entrance to Point Defiance Park:(click here for a google maps pin: https://goo.gl/maps/bQviv7hLjLZtbGxK6)  and walk over to the ferry lanes together to hop in minivans with CHB staff for the short (20 minute) ferry ride to Vashon Island. We will then drive together to Point Robinson (https://vashonparks.org/point-robinson) to explore the beach and park. We will return on the ferry that arrives at 3:30 and meet parents in the drop off location at the park entrance. **Note: ferry schedules are occasionally delayed. We will be in contact if there are any changes, but be aware that our return time may change due to long lines or schedule changes**

We will be outside for most of the day so students should bring warm layers, rain jackets, rain pants, and waterproof boots that can get muddy and sandy (we have lots of gear to borrow so let us know what you need so we can make sure to have your size).

This program is free and lunch (sandwiches) will be provided. We can provide gas cards upon request. Registration is required. Please be mindful of students on the wait list and let us know if you are no longer able to attend.

Please complete a form for each student registering.

* Registration does not ensure a space in the program. We have a registration window and then will randomly select students from the list of those registered. You will be notified within a week when your registration is confirmed.

If we have space, adults may also be able to join us, but priority will be given to youth.

**Accessibility: This program will take place outdoors on unpaved surfaces and will involve entering and exiting a minivan. Students should bring warm layers and rain gear (notify us if you would like to borrow any gear). There is ADA restroom and parking available at the park. Much of the educational portion of this program will take place on the beach.
